Each October Craftwork Cards, one of the UK’s premier Paper Craft Suppliers, hold their annual paper craft event “The Great Northern Papercraft Extravangaza. However the 2015 event is going to be the biggest they have held and encompass not just Paper Crafts but also home decor, sewing, baking and jewellery-making. As well as the stalls, the event will also include a great range of workshops delivered by Internationally lauded craft experts and TV personalities including Stephanie Weightman from Tattered Lace and Jenniffer Taylor from The Great British Sewing Bee.
Sue Taylor at Craftwork wanted to launch the event with a new name, branding and its own website. And with fans of the company clamouring to book tickets they also had a very short timeline.
The site needed to incorporate the range of information you would expect for an exhibition i.e. About, List of Exhibitors and Event Map.
Online Booking & E-Commerce
They also required the site to include two E-Commerce Elements.
This first is booking tickets for the exhibition itself utilising PayPal. When a booking is made the system automatically creates tickets which are sent via email. These are individually numbered and bar coded.
The second is the booking for the Workshops, this again utilised Paypal. However the team at Craftwork needed the ability to manage the number of people attending each one. The Content Management System therefore included the ability to set a maximum number of attendee. When this number is reached the workshop automatically displays at “Sold Out” and booking option is removed.
Content Management System (CMS)
The site includes Digi Spot’s in-house secure CMS to enable Craftwork to update the website content, essential for keeping the site up to date. It enables them to format the content including for example Bold/Italic text, inserting links and image alignment.
The CMS includes the ability to drag and drop images directly from the files on the pc/mac into the webpage, the system automatically processes the images for size and scale.
With over 50% of web browsing now carried out on mobile devices a Responsive Website is crucial to any marketing solution.
The website responds to the device being used to view it, adapting both the menu and display to ensure it is quick and easy to use across platforms.
As there were time pressures involved with getting the website live, the Digi Spot worked closely with the team at Craftwork Cards to get the website completed and online within 2.5 weeks from the first meeting.
